These are not Stainless. GRK does make a Stainless version, but these ain't them. These are EXTRA strong and a "lag" type screw. I used them to join double up joists in a garage prior to adding storage area. These things run in fast, cut well and almost gave me a black eye when using them. The driver is a T30 type and allows you to deliver a huge amount of torque. I broke three Bosch bits running these in. I mannaged to spin the drill around hard and had it swing out of my hand on numerous occasions (okay save the comments on intelligence). Yes I did set torque to specific values, but a bit high. So either set your torque low and then hand crank these in to seat, use two hands, or make sure you have been working forearms at the gym. For me these were able to seat over a 1/4 inch deep into Redwood con common relatively easy.The tensil strength ratings on these are awesome. If you research the strength characteristics, the one in question is shear strength versus 16d nails. This size is rated as structural and can be approved for use in code compliant applications. The #10 RSS would be a logical choice for use as a substitute in framing applications but to my knowledge has not been accepted for general construction use, unfortunately. The #10 will work with the Kreg HD jig which provides a great very square and true connection eliminating guesswork toenailing.I would recommend these as an excellent goto screw.
